The Jomsom trek is most popular trek in Nepal. The diverse landscapes and cultures to be found along the trek route give a marvelous insight into the way of life of rural people. The route to Jomsom up the Kali Gandaki River passes through a gap in the Himalayan barrier in the bottom of the deepest river canyon in the world.
Kaligandaki Valley (Jomsom - Muktinath) area is situated in north of Pokhara. Ghorepani, where we spend one night before descending Tatopani offers some of the most dramatic close-up views of the highest and most beautiful mountains in the world. In addition, this region is known for some of the most abrupt altitude variations experienced anywhere. A magnificent sunrise at Poon Hill, before descending Tatopani (hot spring) and then we encounter the world's deepest gorge, where the powerful Kali Gandaki River has cut deep through the Himalaya between the massive peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, view of wonderful Dhaulagiri Icefall. As we trek up the Kali Gandaki valley we pass though the traditional and prosperous villages of Tukuche, Ghasa, Marpha and Jomsom. The Thakalis, a traditional traders, have converted their charming and wonderfully clean homes into trekkers' lodges and are well known as one of the most gracious and successful innkeepers in Nepal. Past Jomsom we reach the arid Tibet-like landscape of Mustang. At Muktinath, set below the Thorong La pass, we have a day to explore the temple and villages and enjoy wonderful mountain views.
